I picked up two pairs from each brand. From Hollister, I bought the Baggy Pull-On Cargo Pants and the Baggy Utility Pants. From Abercrombie, I bought the Ultra Baggy Pants and the Ultra Loose Utility Pants.
I’m going to describe each item in detail, try them on, and at the end I’ll tell you which one is my favorite.

Abercrombie Ultra Baggy Pants
First, let’s talk about the Abercrombie Ultra Baggy Pants.
The fabric has a slightly irregular stitching pattern that gives it a worn, relaxed look. It has two side pockets, two large button cargo pockets, and two button back pockets.
It also has belt loops and comes with thick drawstrings for easy adjustment. The pants are made of 100% cotton, and I bought them for $72.
After trying them on, they feel baggy all around. I expected them to be even baggier based on what I saw online, but the fit is still very roomy.
They have decent stretch and don’t feel restrictive in any direction. The waist fits perfectly, but the length feels a little short.
I really like the feel of the fabric, and the pants don’t feel heavy. I normally use the drawstring to tighten the waist, but I didn’t need it with these.
Hollister Baggy Pull-On Cargo Pants
Now let’s compare them to the Hollister Baggy Pull-On Cargo Pants. I got these in black, and the fabric feels different.
This pair feels like it has some spandex in it. When I checked the tag, it said 98% cotton and 2% elastane.
It has a drawstring in the front but no belt loops. It’s considered “pull-on” because you don’t need to deal with buttons or zippers.
It has two side pockets, two zipper cargo pockets, and two open back pockets. It also seems to attract lint easily, probably because it’s black.
I paid about $45 for these, which is $27 cheaper than the Abercrombie pair.
They don’t look very baggy to me and feel more like a relaxed fit. They also feel lighter than the Abercrombie pants.
They stretch well and don’t restrict movement, but you definitely need a lint remover for them.
Overall, they’re okay pants.
Abercrombie Ultra Loose Utility Pants
Next, let’s move on to the utility pants. Starting with Abercrombie, I bought the Ultra Loose Utility Pants in size 30×32. The main difference is that these are more loose-fitting instead of super baggy.
They also have paint patches or a splatter pattern all over the pants, which surprised me because I didn’t notice it online. These pants have two large side pockets and two big back button pockets. They don’t come with drawstrings, but they do have belt loops.
I paid $72 for them, which is the same price as the Ultra Baggy Pants.
After trying them on, they fit perfectly around the waist and the length is perfect for me.
I love the silhouette, but I’m not a fan of the paint splatter look. I prefer utility pants to have a clean, solid color. I also expected a heavier fabric like denim and deeper side pockets. Overall, I like the fit, but I wish I bought them in a plain color.
Hollister Baggy Utility Pants
Last on the list are the Hollister Utility Pants. They are also pull-on pants with a drawstring, but they don’t have buttons or belt loops.
They have two side pockets and two open back pockets, and they use the same fabric composition as the Hollister baggy pants. The difference is that these utility pants include a hammer loop, which the Abercrombie pants did not have.
I think a hammer loop is an important feature for utility pants, so I liked that detail.
When I tried them on, they felt the same as the Hollister baggy pants. They are super stretchy and have a loose fit. They fit perfectly around my waist, so I didn’t need to adjust anything.
It’s funny because this pair actually feels baggier than the Hollister baggy pants.I do wish the side pockets were deeper, and once again, I would prefer them in denim fabric.
I also forgot to mention that both Hollister pants include a deep iPhone-secured pocket, which is a nice feature. Overall, these utility pants are solid. I really like the fit, but I’m not a fan of the fabric
My Verdict
After trying on everything, I can finally say which pants I recommend most. My number one pick is the Abercrombie Ultra Baggy Pants. The main reason is the fit—it’s baggy everywhere, the pockets are huge, and the silhouette looks perfect.
If you want something less baggy but still loose and comfortable, I recommend the Abercrombie Utility Pants because of the silhouette and comfort. If you want a cheaper option, Hollister is a good choice, but the fit isn’t as baggy as I expected.
