cos vs uniqlo

Today we’ll compare Uniqlo and COS to find out which one offers the best knitwear.

Uniqlo is known for its optimal price/quality ratio. Their main competitive advantage is the price. COS is known for their minimalistic style of clothing made from high quality materials.

For comparison, we chose the Relaxed-Fit Boucle Knit Sweater ($91) and Pure Cashmere Knit Sweater ($175) from COS and the Premium Lambswool Turtleneck ($39), Souffle Mock Neck Knit ($45) from Uniqlo.

So, Is the quality of COS really much better than Uniqlo to pay the higher price?

Let’s compare.

Uniqlo

So, first up from Uniqlo, we have this premium lambswool turtleneck in a beautiful dark forest green colorway. In terms of price point, this is coming in at just $35. Right off the bat, this is considerably more affordable than COS, which I guess is to be expected.

I find the very deep dark green color beautiful, it’s great for the fall and winter season. If you are going out on a date night, out for a drink or a meal. This turtleneck would be a great option for such an occasion.

If you want to try knitwear but don’t want to spend $100-200 dollars, Unuqlo is definitely the best choice for you

COS

The first thing to note is the relaxed fit of COS sweaters. It’s honestly so nice.

It’s perfect for these cooler fall days. So yeah, a super cozy knit right off the bat from COS. It looks insane if you’re styling this on its own. On top of that, it looks equally as good if you’re using this as an underlayer to your outerwear piece. Both are honestly solid looks.

The second knit we picked up from COS is a pure cashmere sweater in a more traditional gray color. Obviously, being cashmere, it costs a lot more – S175. But like I said, it’s 100% cashmere, so it feels incredible to the touch. It’s very soft and doesn’t cause any itching or irritation on the skin. The feeling is also amazing.

If your budget allows, it’s incredible quality, super comfortable, and really soft on your skin. In my opinion, COS knitwear is ideal as a base layer for outerwear, simply because it is more conventional.

The Verdict: Uniqlo or COS?

There is no doubt that COS clothes are premium. They are much more expensive than Uniqlo, but the quality of COS knitwear is definitely worth the money. Uniqlo offers a much more budget-friendly knitwear option, but I can’t say that their quality is three times inferior to COS. Definitely, you will get a decent and quality piece for your money. If you are on a budget, Uniqlo is a great option.
